Fruits of the Spirit Weekend
This year our usual Fruits of the Spirit celebration will be different, as we are not gathering in person for the usual Saturday workshops. Just because we are apart, does not mean we will not be stretching our creative muscles! After brainstorming, some online shopping, and a lot of behind-the-scenes work, we have come up with some at-home workshops for you to participate in. These creations can be shared once we join each other again in person!
All of these activites can be completed in and around your home and, to help you out with art supplies and goodies, we will even provide a safe, no-contact drop off at your home with a bag of some of the things that you may not happen to have lying around! If you would like to participate, and would like to receive an art supply drop, please contact Melissa at [email protected] with your address and the number of participants in your home!
Click on each workshops for a full description: Masks in the Making, Easy DIY Suncatchers, Delightful Dragonfly, Scarboro Photo Hunt, and How to Pray with Prayer Doodles - contact Erin for a link to an online doodle session on Friday, May 29 at 7:30pm: [email protected]
Melissa has been a huge part of the success of our early Family Services on Christmas Eve. From helping us pull together creative alphabetical artwork for the ABC's of Christmas, to a paired back story-time service, to a puppet show complete with original, handmade puppets! Several years ago, ScarboroArts hosted a puppet making workshop with Edmonton puppeteer, Ianna Ings. Who knows when they will show up next?
Playing piano has been a part of Melissa Lebo's life for nearly 30 years. She has accompanied various musical theatre groups over the years including Storybook Theatre, Front Row Centre Players, Morpheus Theatre, and the Painted Fish Performing Arts Society. Melissa currently plays for Mount Royal University's Arioso and Aria children's choirs. She is also the accompanist with the Cum Vino Cantus choir, under the direction of Jean-Louis Bleau and Michael Coburn, and the Calgary Multicultural choir under the direction of Nancy Thomson. In her spare time when not playing piano or at her 9-5 job at a busy Toyota dealership, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and her Great Dane, Steve.
Melissa is a fabulous part of the team at Scarboro United Church. She brings energy and enthusiasm to the ScarboroArts program, working seamlessly alongside Music Director, Liz Paynter. Watch out for more artistic offerings this year!
I hear music in the air...
We are so lucky to have such talented musicians lending their talents to worship services at Scarboro. Thank you to all of the special guests who come here to make music with us! (Our Sanctuary, with it's wonderful acoustics, is also available for rent as a concert venue.)
