ScarboroArts Coordinator

Melissa Lebo | ScarboroArts CoordinatorPlaying piano has been a part of Melissa Lebo's life for nearly 30 years. She has accompanied various musical theatre groups over the years including Storybook Theatre, Front Row Centre Players, Morpheus Theatre, and the Painted Fish Performing Arts Society. Melissa currently plays for Mount Royal University's Arioso and Aria children's choirs. She is also the accompanist with the Cum Vino Cantus choir, under the direction of Jean-Louis Bleau and Michael Coburn, and the Calgary Multicultural choir under the direction of Nancy Thomson. In her spare time when not playing piano or at her 9-5 job at a busy Toyota dealership, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and her Great Dane, Steve.

Melissa has already proven to be a fabulous addition to the team at Scarboro United Church. She brings energy and enthusiasm to the ScarboroArts program, working seamlessly alongside Music Director, Liz Paynter. Check out her influence in this year’s Christmas (Puppet) Pageant at the 5pm Family Christmas Eve Service, and watch out for more artistic offerings to come in 2018!

Puppet Making Workshop

On November 11 & 12, Scarboro will be hosting a puppet making workshop with Edmonton puppeteer, Ianna Ings. (You will get a chance to see some of these puppets at this year's Christmas Eve Pageant at the 5:00 Family Service!) Contact the office to sign up. We are also collecting newspapers, so bring them over to the church instead of tossing them in the recycling bin!

Fruits of the Spirit Weekend

In May, we celebrated our annual Fruits of the Spirit Weekend. We showcased a fabulous Art Gallery in our newly completed Marilyn Perkins - Memorial Hall, and hosted another full Saturday of workshops featuring: Circle Dancing with Ronnie Joy Leah, Art and Spirituality with Danah Cox, Quilting with Marg Jessop, Photography with Robert Massey, and the always popular Green Gospel with our fabulous music director, Liz Paynter.
