Shirts for Orange Shirt Day - NEW deadline, Aug 23, 2018
Every Fall as kids get settled back into the school year, we take time to recognise the harm done to Indigenous children by the residential school system. We wear orange shirts in recognition of Phyllis' experience of having her shiny new orange shirt taken from her on the first day of school, a reminder of everything familiar that was taken from these children, never to be returned.
This year, we will have a limited number of Orange Shirts for sale at Scarboro. They are designed by Indigenous artist, Bear Horne of Victoria, BC, and proceeds from the shirts will go to reconciliation initiatives.
Contact the church office with the number of shirts you would like to order and sizing information (available from youth small to adult 5xl). Shirts are $25 each, payable by cash or cheque - made out to Scarboro United Church.
Due to increased demand, the order deadline has been extended to Thursday, Aug 23!
